LayerCut

Terms of use

These terms cover the LayerCut desktop app (“the software”) and this website. By installing or using LayerCut, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

The software

Free edition. You may install and use the free edition on any number of computers, for personal or commercial work.

Pro edition. A Pro license is for one person. You may use it on any computers you personally use. You may not share, sell or publish your license key.

Beta versions. Versions before 1.0 are betas. They may contain bugs and features may change. During the beta, Pro features are available without a license.

What you make is yours. You own the files LayerCut exports and the things you make with them. The license of any 3D model you start from is set by its creator; it's your responsibility to follow it.

Restrictions. You may not reverse-engineer, decompile or modify the software, or remove its license checks, except where the law allows it regardless of these terms. You may not redistribute the installers; link to layercut.app instead.

Purchases

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

A Pro license includes updates released in the 12 months after purchase. After that, Pro keeps working on those versions; renewing adds another 12 months of updates. See Refunds for our refund policy.

Safety

Laser cutters are dangerous. Follow your machine's safety instructions, never leave a running laser unattended, and only cut materials that are safe to laser. LayerCut writes cut files; it does not control your machine, and you are responsible for how you use them. Laser settings in LayerCut are starting values; test them on your machine.

No warranty

The software is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't guarantee that it is free of errors or that its output suits any particular purpose. Check cut files before cutting, especially for expensive material.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for wasted material or machine time, arising from using the software. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for your license. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the bottom shows when they last changed. Continuing to use LayerCut after a change means you accept the new terms.
